Privacy Policy
Effective October 7, 2026
Nestling is a baby log that parents and caregivers share. This policy explains what information Nestling collects, how it's used, who can see it, and how to delete it. The short version: your family's information is used only to run the app for your family. There are no ads, no analytics or tracking, and nothing is sold.
What Nestling collects
- Your account: your name, email address and, if you sign in with Google, your profile picture. If you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, Nestling only receives Apple's private relay address.
- What you log about your child: name, birth date, sex, and the entries you add, such as feeds, sleep, diapers, pumping, solids, growth measurements, milestones, medicine, temperatures, sick days, vaccinations and "firsts". Some of this is health information.
- Photos you take or upload in the app, with their captions, dates and albums. Nestling asks for camera and photo-library access only when you choose to add a photo.
- Family membership: which family log you belong to, your invite code, and who logged each entry.
- iPhone notifications and widget: the iPhone app stores that phone's notification token, time zone, units, which baby its home-screen widget shows, and your notification choices and quiet hours. This lets Nestling keep the widget up to date in the background and, if you turn them on, tell you when someone in your family logs something. The iPhone app also stores the tokens Apple uses to show and update Lock Screen timers (including a partner's timer, if you choose to see those), with that phone's own key, stored only as a scrambled (hashed) copy. Signing out or deleting your account removes it.
- Apple Watch: if you use Nestling on Apple Watch, your iPhone gives the watch its own sign-in key. Only a scrambled (hashed) copy of the key is stored, so it can be checked but not read back. Signing out of Nestling on your iPhone turns the key off, and so does leaving or deleting your family log.
- Settings: your appearance choices are saved to your account. Unit choices (oz/ml, lb/kg and so on) stay on your device.
Nestling does not collect your location, contacts, browsing activity or advertising identifiers, and it does not use analytics or advertising tools.
How it's used
Only to provide the app: signing you in, saving and syncing your family's log between your devices and your partner's, showing summaries and growth percentiles, and storing your photos. Nestling does not use your information for advertising, profiling or any other purpose.
Who can see it
- Your family members. Everything in a family log is visible to every person who has joined that log with its invite code. Only share your invite code with people you want to have access.
- Service providers. Nestling runs on Google Firebase (Firebase Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Storage, Cloud Functions, Firebase Cloud Messaging and Firebase Hosting), and notifications are delivered through Apple's push notification service, which stores and processes the data on Nestling's behalf in the United States. Sign-in with Google or Apple is handled by those companies under their own privacy policies. These providers protect the data under their terms and don't use it for their own advertising.
- Nobody else. Nestling does not sell or rent your information or share it with advertisers or data brokers. Information would only be disclosed if required by law.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest by Google Firebase. Security rules make each family log readable and writable only by its own members, and photos viewable only by members of that family.
Keeping and deleting your information
Your information is kept until you delete it. You can delete individual entries and photos at any time. To delete your account, open Settings (gear icon) › Account & privacy › Delete my account:
- If you're the only member of your family log, your account and the whole log, including every photo, are permanently deleted.
- If other family members are still using the log, your account and settings are deleted and you're removed from the family. The shared log, including entries and photos you added, stays with them.
Deleted data is removed from Nestling right away. Copies in Google's backup systems are erased on Google's normal schedule. If you can't use the app, email us (below) and we'll delete your data for you.
Children
Nestling is meant to be used by parents and caregivers, not by children. Information about a child is entered by their parent or caregiver, who controls it and can delete it at any time. Nestling doesn't knowingly let children under 13 create accounts. If you believe one has, contact us and we'll delete it.
Your choices
You can view and change everything you've logged in the app, and delete any of it. You can also download a copy of your family log as a spreadsheet or a full backup file from Settings (gear icon) › Export & backup. Those files are created on your device and go only where you choose to save or send them. You can stop using Google or Apple sign-in for Nestling in your Google or Apple account settings. Depending on where you live, you may have other rights over your data, such as access or deletion; contact us to use them.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted here with a new effective date. Significant changes will also be noted in the app.
Terms
Using Nestling is also covered by our Terms of Service.
